Blackburn Rovers hit by injury worries with two defenders both suffering knocks

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has said that he could have to contend with injury problems ahead of their game against Middlesbrough this weekend, with utility man Elliott Bennett and defenders Darren Lenihan and Tosin Adarabioyo both suffering knocks.

Blackburn Rovers face Middlesbrough this weekend as they look to put their difficult start to the season behind them with an impressive result against Tony Mowbray’s former club. However, they could be up against it before the game has even started, with the Rovers boss revealing they have three injury worries heading into the ga

Versatile man Elliott Bennett suffered a knock to the knee during Blackburn’s defeat at Fulham, but Mowbray is hopeful that the skipper will be available for selection. Darragh Lenihan is also said to be a doubt with the severity of his knee injury still unknown and loanee Tosin Adarabioyo has also picked up an injury.

“Bennett has a knock. He’s been walking around with ice on but he is a warrior and could have half his leg hanging off and he would still be wanting to play,” Mowbray said to the Lancashire Telegraph.

“The only concern at the moment is Tosin. He has picked up a little knock. We’ll see whether he trains on Thursday and that’s a concern. Lenihan is another concern and if both Tosin and Lenihan miss the weekend then we are really thin. I’d be pretty hopeful that one of them will make it for the weekend.

“We should look forward to that game. Middlesbrough managed to beat us in a tight game last year, but we should go in to every game believing we can win.”
