Host of Blackburn Rovers players set for loan switches this January

Blackburn Rovers are expected to send out a host of youngsters on loan for the rest of the season, the Lancashire Telegraph are reporting.

A selection of the club’s youngsters have returned to Ewood Park following the end of their loan spells away throughout the first half of the season. Blackburn Rovers defensive duo Matty Platt and Sam Hart and midfielder Lewis Hardcastle returned at the start of the transfer window and are set for loan moves away once again.

Now, they are set to be joined on loan by a string of Rovers youngsters. Hart is on the brink of a loan move to another League One side after impressing at Rochdale, while Hardcastle will be looking for a club where he can have a bigger impact than he did at Port Vale in 2018.

Young ‘keeper Ollie Byrne agreed to join League Two side Stevenage on Monday morning and it is believed he will not be the last out the door.

Blackburn Rovers recently made the loan move of Northern Irish midfielder Brad Lyons permanent. The 21-year-old impressed throughout the first half of the season while on loan from Coleraine and has just left Ewood Park for the rest of the 2018/19 campaign.

It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that he has moved to Scottish Premiership side St. Mirren on loan to join up with former Coleraine boss Oran Kearney.

20-year-old midfielder Willem Tomlinson could be allowed to leave the club on a permanent basis after failing to nail down a place in the Under-23s under Damien Johnson.
