Rangers and West Brom join pursuit of Premier League winger

Rangers and West Brom are interested in Liverpool winger Ben Woodburn, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old is set to leave the Premier League table toppers on loan again this month and is not short of options.

He spent the first half of this season on loan at Championship side Sheffield United but found first-team chances hard to come by at Bramall Lane. He made just seven appearances in the league for Chris Wilder’s side.

Woodburn was linked with a move back to the second tier last week with Hull City and Blackburn Rovers credited in an interest, as reported by The72. However, Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray has since cooled his sides’ interest in him.

Rangers have now joined the race to land Woodburn. Steven Gerrard knows him well from Liverpool and could offer him the chance to play in the Scottish Premier League.

The Glasgow side have been busy in this transfer window and have already landed AFC Bournemouth striker Jermaine Defoe and Southampton midfielder Steven Davis. Could Woodburn be the next acquisition at Ibrox?

West Brom are also in the chase for the youngster. The Baggies want to replace Harvey Barnes, who was recalled by Leicester City last week after impressing for Darren Moore’s side during the first half of the season.

Woodburn is a decent option for West Brom and a player who is keen to prove himself in the Championship to help further his development. It will be interesting to see where he ends up this month.
